It's 11:10 p.m. and some hoopty just parked itself right outside our house blasting what can only be described as funkadelic 70s disco tunes - at full volume, for an extended period of time. It was so loud - and so clear - that at one point I thought I must have opened a new window on my computer and inadvertently gone to a website that played music. It was *right there* and *so close.*
I just don't understand in what world you think that playing your music that loud in a residential neighborhood while people are likely trying to sleep is a good thing to do. The lack of common courtesy and disrespect some of the people in this neighborhood show to their other neighbors is astounding. And, that noise didn't just affect us so it's not like I'm saying, "woe is me ..." There are babies and young children on this block, as well as old ladies who probably go to sleep at 8pm watching Murder She Wrote.
I have to keep telling myself, "this is what you signed up for when you moved to an urban neighborhood." But I do have to admit, I had visions of a quieter, more peaceful neighborhood. I don't know why, exactly, I thought that. Just that I did and well ... this place is LOUD. It's nights like these when I think it must be awfully nice to live out in the country where the only noise you get is the croacking of the tree frogs and the chirping of the crickets.

UPDATE: There are now two people standing directly in front of my house arguing with each other. Because, you know, they can't argue in their OWN home.
