I just have to brag for a minute about our Kitchen-Aid microhood. I know it's a silly thing to be excited about - a microwave - but it seriously saved the day tonight when I came home from work and Alan asked, "what's for dinner?" and the only thing I could remotely think would work was some seriously frozen hot italian sausage. I figured I'd throw them in the microwave to defrost and if they somehow scorched at the ends while remaining frozen in the middle, worst case scenario was that I cut it all up and throw it in pasta sauce and we'd have a quick and easy pasta dinner. I set the "custom defrost" setting for 1 pound of meat; ten minutes later I had *perfectly* defrosted sausage that I can now throw in the oven to bake. I know y'all are sitting there laughing at my wonder and awe over this, but I've *never* had a microwave perfectly defrost ANYTHING. Ever. This is truly a miracle of science.
