On Wednesday morning I walked into the dentist's office at 9:30 a.m. after calling repeatedly to find the phone had been disconnected. They saw me immediately which involved an x-ray or two. The dentist I met - not the same man who did all of my previous work - told me that I still have a trace of the infection that I had back in September that caused my emergency root canal and that's probably why my crown was never perfectly comfortable. When I told her that aside from the infection point, I also felt like the crown didn't actually fit and I could feel the seam she played around with it a bit and told me that she was getting "some rocking" from the tooth so they weren't going to glue it down permanently. Instead, she'd put a temporary adhesive on and I'd have the regular doctor take a look on Tuesday.
Now, as you all know today is Friday so it's been just a little over 48 hours since I had the crown put back on with cement that "should last several weeks."
(Do you see where I am going with this?)
Tonight at dinner while eating ceviche, the f*#@ing crown CAME OFF AGAIN, only this time I almost swallowed it. Thank goodness I was like, "oh wow, what's this hard chunk in my ceviche?" I was told to avoid gum and sticky foods. They didn't say anything about soft, raw fish.
I can't win.
