Yesterday while shopping in Walnut Creek we decided to stop in to the Volkswagen dealership to look at the 2010 Tiguan. They had one Wolfsberg on the lot which they promptly let us test drive. Within seconds of pulling off the lot, I was definitely impressed with the amount of "gitty up" it had as both the Forester and the Highlander were a bit sluggish in that department (in comparison to the Saab which is a turbo). The ride height was pretty decent and the seats were as comfortable as the GLK or the Forester. Having driven a New Beetle back in the day, it definitely brought back memories of the VW drive style. I especially loved the backup camera, panoramic moonroof (unlike the fake one on the GLK) and above all, the iPhone iTunes integration. Heck, I would almost buy the car just for that!
Because the dealer also runs a Saab store, it'd be incredibly convenient to work with them to turn over one car and pick another up. The man we spoke with is running the numbers on what a lease would look like with various options. Alan is adamant that we don't want charcoal seats and after nearly burning my arse off in the 80+ degree weather yesterday I can't say I disagree. If the down payment and monthly payments work out as well as the online payment calculator indicated, this could be our leading contender.
