black accents

For the past year or so I've been thinking about how to beautify the exterior of our house (it doesn't help when I watch Curb Appeal since I want to rip everything out and start anew).  We definitely need to do something about the red(ish) paint on the steps, driveway and porch.  It's an ugly color and it's not in very good condition.  Later this year we'll be putting in new windows (finally!) and I've pretty much got my heart set on the ones with the black cladding.  Unfortunately I can't find a picture anywhere online that shows an actual house with black clad windows, but trust me - I saw them in person and I think they're perfect.

It seems the fine folks over at 1916 Portland Bungalow have been on the hunt for a new color scheme for their house and they came across an abode that is pretty much perfectly the color palette I want my house to take on. 



Since our house is nearly already that color and we have white trim (just needs to be cleaned and panted again), you can see that the black accents are a perfect match.  But then, I'm still torn on what to do with the red concrete areas.  Do we not paint them black too.  Too much?   That would kind of make it no longer an accent.  But what then?
