Back in the day (2 years ago?) I used to choose a picture for each and every Photo Friday contest. Then I just ran out of inspiration (or the topics didn't really work for me - who knows?). So I haven't done anything in a long while. When I received today's email telling me the topic was "The City" I knew five pictures I wanted to post. Of course, the rules call for only one, but screw it.
These were taken in February 2006 for our 4 year anniversary trip. It was also the week after that huge snow storm that pretty much closed down the city. When we arrived in NYC, it was cold, but not abundantly so. As you can see, there was still some snow on the ground, but not a blizzard's worth. The day we walked to Central Park and back to midtown, it actually reached temperatures in the high 60s and most of the snow melted. The next morning we woke up to temps hovering around 15 degrees - that's when we made our trip over to Brooklyn for the best pizza in the country (Grimaldi's) and down to Times Square for Broadway tickets. I don't know if I've ever been that cold.
